There's very little info on trail towns or shelters. Where it is really useful is the many layers you can put over the map. The trail is outlined, so you can throw a weather radar or a cloud layer on there to decide to summit or take a zero and wait it out. I'd like more community support for adding shelters and other places of interest (as extensive as AWOL's guide would be sweet..guthook is way over priced).

About this app

This app is for viewing one of the most worlds most famous hiking trails. It is called the Appalachian Trail and starts in Georgia and ends in Main. Data from Appalachian Trail Conservancy, NASA, USGS and NOAA are combined with Deep Learning Artificial Intelligence Swarm works together (CPU/Memory/Battery savings) to give you the best real experience and extend your smart phone capabilities. You can see the terrain in 3D and has additional map layers for Wildfires, clouds and the latest USGS topo. You can fly over the trail automatically using our "Trek" capability where you select one of the GPS Tracks and fly over that part of Appalachian Trail as if you were there selecting the Altitude, Rate and tilt! A list of locations on the trail is provided and when one is selected zooms to that location. Embedded is the trail gpx files for the primary and alternate paths so you can view the trail path in 3D. It displays closest Earthquakes, Wildfires and the distance and direction to them. A list of closest Shelters based on your location is also provided. It uses GPS to locate your position and display closest Shelter Waypoints and gives distances and direction from you. Our Web page and Video viewer also includes on their list to selections covering First Aid, What to have for a hike or backpacking and web pages for Appalachian Trail Conservancy to name a few.

It is best to use an internet connection through a WiFi router and we tested with 2GB of CPU Memory and large pixel count but it might be okay with 1GB and low pixel resolution but not with 500MB of CPU Memory. We support Android 5.1+.
