Fabio Cannavaro (Napoli, 13 settembre 1973) è un dirigente sportivo, allenatore di calcio ed ex calciatore italiano, di ruolo difensore, attuale tecnico del Tianjin Quanjian.

Considerato uno dei migliori difensori nella storia del calcio italiano,[4][5][6][7] nel 2006 è stato campione del mondo con la Nazionale italiana, della quale ha detenuto il record di presenze dal 2009 fino al 2013 (136), superato poi da Gianluigi Buffon, e della quale è stato il capitano dal 2002 al 2010. È inoltre il giocatore con più presenze da capitano in Nazionale (79).

Ha vinto l'edizione 2006 del Pallone d'oro[8][9] (quinto italiano vincitore del premio, dopo l'oriundo Omar Sívori, Gianni Rivera, Paolo Rossi e Roberto Baggio), riconoscimento istituito dalla rivista francese France Football e attribuito al miglior calciatore militante in una squadra iscritta all'UEFA, in seguito ai voti di una giuria composta da giornalisti specializzati. Nel dicembre dello stesso anno è stato eletto FIFA World Player come miglior calciatore dell'anno in assoluto, scelto in base ai voti dei Commissari Tecnici e dei Capitani delle Nazionali di calcio.
