Amazing app! Great for topping up on knowledge, and it's free! Idea for a slight improvement would be pronunciation of the conditions

The learning section is useful but could do with expanding. The picture section is very useful.

About this app

‘Dermatology: Medical Student Edition’ was created as part of a project led by Dr James Coleman and Dr Ingrid Helbling. Their aim was to develop a smartphone application to make basic dermatology learning material more accessible to medical students and newly qualified doctors. The coding of the application was funded by the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD).

The application incorporates ‘Dermatology: a handbook for medical students & junior doctors’. This handbook was written by Dr Nicole Yi Zhen Chiang and Professor Julian Verbov and forms the ‘learning zone’ of the smartphone application.

The ‘exam zone’ includes exam style questions written by the following dermatologists from the University Hospitals of Leicester:

- Dr Anton Alexandroff
- Dr Robert Burd
- Dr Karen Harman
- Dr Ingrid Helbling (Honorary Editor)
- Dr Graham Johnston
- Dr John McKenna
- Dr Joy Osborne

The treatments suggested in the ‘exam zone’ might reflect the preferences of the author who wrote the case and there may be other appropriate treatment options available.

We would like to thank Dr Stuart Cohen, Dr Jon Goulding, Dr Shaheen Haque, Dr Gayathri Perera and Dr Minal Singh for their helpful comments when reviewing the ‘exam zone’ of the application on behalf of the BAD. We would like to acknowledge Professor A Armellini for his valuable contribution to this application. All illustrations were obtained from D@nderm with permission.
