This app is a lifesaver for hiking in areas with no data. Really simple and easy to use to download offline maps. I didn't use it to track my hikes this past week in Glacier NP, I just used it to check and reference if I was still on a trail and where I was along it. Couldn't figure out how to change the scale to imperial units though, my only complaint but not a big issue for what I was using it for.

It seems nice until you need to use it. I have been trying to find instructions for this app and can't find any. It's so annoying. By trial and error and touching every button, I was finally able to do a route. It would be nice if there was a button for "start hike" or "start trip" but there isn't any and no you tube video either.

Been using this app for a couple years now, it is by far the best app available with free access to unlimited offline maps that I have found. Surprised it hasn't gained more notoriety, as it is relatively easy to use, and has just about all the functionality one needs hiking the backcountry. Am trying to get hill shading to work in it, which would make it on par with the best paid hiking GPS apps out there ever, but I am not having any luck. I am able to download the dem files into a hgt folder on my phone created by the app, and checked the hill shading option in Global settings, but it does not change the map view. It was mentioned somewhere that the user needs to download and use a user theme that supports hill shading, but I have been unable to locate anything. Any pointers on how to get this working? Thanks in advance.

Very good, it would be useful a bip warning option when you are 20 meters out of your gpx tracks

Worst update. Last update deleted all my downloaded offline maps. It was super cool before. UPDATE: Well the maps were not deleted but moved to android/data/com.mountain.tracks. Thanks.

I use this app and like its simplicity but it is almost impossible to find documentation on how to use it. For example when displaying a map there are three icons in the upper right, By trial and error I figured out that the top one means "centre the map on your current location" and the bottom one means "add a waypoint by specifying its latitude and longitude" but I cannot figure out what the centre one does. I was hoping it meant "save the current location as a waypoint" but that does not seem to be the case.
