This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing TrekMapper.EU on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

About this app

The easiest way to get good hiking, topograph maps of Europa to your mobile phone. The maps are useable without an Internet connection and with the ability to improve their readability on a small screen. The app also contains a lot of GPS and map functionality, including GPX Editor for route planning.

Application for hikers, bikers, moto-bikers, travelers, adventurers and for everyone, who needs perfect maps especially for outdoor activities.

Maps

After installing the application you should choose the most appropriate map and press Download button to gain independence on internet connection. All maps can be zoomed. Very useful is Magnification function to adjust the font size for a small screen. Of course, it is possible to orient map in the direction of travel or by compass.

Navigation

The apk provides all functions, what you need in terrain, like navigation on the selected route, optionally with GPX Acoustic Alert and watching progress related to the elevation profile. The route can be imported, or created (see section Routing & Planning).

gpSMS

If GPS is on, you can send location messages and inform your friends and family about your location.

Routing & Planning - GPX Editor

Seeks a way from point A to point B with Road - Bicycle - Hiking options. The path is calculated on OpenStreetMap or MapQuest servers. You can also use comfortable GPX Editor to draw or edit your own route. Elevation profile is generated automatically.

Objects, Points of Interest

The application downloads various types of objects, that are interesting for trekkers (accommodation and restaurant facilities, water springs, cultural and historical objects...). Optionally, the objects appear on the map.

Tracking

The application records the route, that you have passed. In addition to GPS coordinates, the record contains both time and altitude information. You can add custom waypoints to the record, which can include name and photos.

Dashboard

If Tracking is turned on, it is possible to call up a dashboard with functions similar to a cycling computer:
- total time
- distance traveled
- ascending height meters
- height above sea level
- maximum altitude
- instant, maximum and average speeds

Social Networks

The application supports access to social networks and enables to share your own routes.
