I had to install this app after last year's update to playbulbX rendered it unable to connect to my candles. 8 months later & still no update to playbulbX. At least this app is able to connect to the candle. However, compared to playbulbX, this app's color control is inferior. It won't smoothly transition through the color wheel. The cursor freezes on the left side forcing you to keep tapping instead of sliding. Also, there's no way to get a true red & orange is missing. This company is garbage.

This app is very disappointing. When it works, it's great. The bulb has tons of colours and a couple fancy fades and modes. But actually getting the app to work is next to impossible. 98% of the time it can't even find my lightbulb, and if I'm ever lucky enough to see it show up on the app it's immediately gone the next time I try. Because I can literally never use my lightbulb as anything but a standard white light, I can't give this rating more than 1 star.

This app was actually really cool, and it still works even on Android 9.0. MiPow seems to have abandoned this iteration of the app in favor of Playbulb X though. Playbulb X works alright, but it comes with its own issues that weren't even in Playbulb 2.0. MiPow's app support for Playbulb seems to be messy and inconsistent. Honestly, I think they would've been better off sticking with this app and improving it. I really like the presentation and overall feel of this app. It has a very stylish design and it's fun to use. To be fully honest, Playbulb X looks kind of ugly compared to Playbulb 2.0 in my opinion. The lights also seem more responsive with this app. When I use the groups feature in Playbulb X, there's a noticeable amount of lag as I'm adjusting the brightness/color of the lights. In Playbulb 2.0, the lights change seamlessly and perfectly in sync with each other, like in the demo videos that MiPow posted on their website. The underlying connection with the bulbs in this app just seems to be handled better. The main problem this app has is the crashing. I have a total of 10 playbulbs in my house, and it's literally impossible to set all of them up at once. There's likely a limit with the amount of bulbs I can actually use, because Bluetooth can only connect to so many devices at once. But even when I'm only connecting to several of them, the app is very unstable. Often I notice the app will actually crash once, then it will continuously crash subsequent times in the Device Search screen, rendering the app totally unusable. At this point, you have to clear the App Cache and Data in Android's app settings in order to use the app again. If the stability issues were addressed and a couple other adjustments were made to improve the app, then this would be better than Playbulb X honestly. I would also make it so the bulbs automatically all connect upon launching Playbulb 2.0, instead of having to individually select each one, then wait for the app to load the connection. Really hope MiPow continues supporting these apps, because I invested a good chunk of change in these lights. There aren't really any other smart bulb apps out there which work with Playbulb, either. So it's really all up to MiPow to make the app a pleasant experience. This is a good example of how you can have excellent hardware quality, but the software for it is not quite on-par, as a result making it difficult to use in practice.

The app constantly closes. My devices (3 led strips) are never remembered, therefore my groups are never remembered. The app also allows to have the strip light up to music, it just doesnt work. I love the quality of the products, but they cant be utilized properly without a working app.

Total garbage. Do I have to keep my old phone around just to adjust my lights? Pixel 4 has no problem pairing with the light bulbs but this garbage app can't control the lights.. and on top of all this I had to give up my email and create an account and give this app full control of my contact list and my images also? Why?

Worked once, then never again. After the first use, which was successful, the app crashed on each subsequent use the upon connecting to a bulb.
