There were several wild fires burning in our area. With this ap I was able to track where the fire had spread, how close it was to me and or a friends house. It wasn't the greatest, but it kept me informed on the fires location.

About this app

Firemap is a tool that allows you to visualize the latest fireworks produced around the world. In a quick way map the heat spots on a simple display allowing:
- Zoom in on the place
- Modify the cartographic base (orthophoto, topography and Open Street Map)
- Geopositioning by GPS
- Obtain data through measurements
- Draw maps with fire points

The cartography uses the data collected by the Terra satellite made by NASA. This space detector carries with it several sensors, called MODIS and VIIRS, that capture the infrared radiation emitted by any fire. The information is processed quickly and made publicly available within a few hours. With all this we can know in a very objective way the approximate location where the fire has occurred and the magnitude of the fire.
