About this app

Filter referrals information by region, type of service and type of impairment. Do you want to add referral information? Contact Us. The ReferAll App is developed under the Make12.4% Work initiative, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

The Make 12.4% Work Initiative looks at triggering the private, public and development sector to open up employment opportunities and livelihoods programs to persons with disabilities. 12.4% is the percentage of the population of Uganda that lives with a disability. This is the figure as given by the last national population census of 2014.

WHO IS DRIVING THE INITIATIVE?

Light for the World is the initiator of the Initiative that was developed as a prototype under the Livelihoods Improvement Challenge Project, funded under the East Africa Disability Fund established by the Big Lottery Fund.

From the start of the design of the initiative Light for the World has worked together with a group of talented young leaders with a disability. They are role models, and the drivers of the Initiative; together they form a pool of Disability Inclusion Facilitators, with the capacity to train on disability awareness and disability inclusion, and coach the members of the Make 12.4% Work Initiative.

The key stakeholders are :

National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU): NUDIPU represents the disability structures in Uganda and plays a main role to network, lobby, and influence leading actors from across government, the private sector and civil society

The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD): MGLSD chairs the steering committee of the Make 12.4% Work Initiative and helps strategize on how to implement the employment laws and livelihoods programs to increase opportunities for persons with disabilities in the labour market
