About this app

In 18th century Goddess Sri Raja Rajeswari Devi was appeared on the outskirts of Devupalli, Bondapalli Mandalam, Vizianagaram District (A.P)

Smt. Veluvali Saradamani, Smt. Yendamuri Janaki baitold that “In 18th century villagers of Devupalli were suffering from viral fevers and un-known diseases. Then villagers thought that only remedy is seeking divine help. They prayed to goddess seeking divine help and promised that they will celebrate festival of goddess if they got cured from diseases.

On “Chaitra Suddha Purnima”, Tuesday, the same girl appeared in the dreams of Sri Rammurthy Panthulu and told that “I am goddess Vijayawada Kanaka Durga Devi. Serve me and call me as goddess Sri Raja Rajeswari Devi”.From that day onwards villagers became devotees of goddess Raja Rajeswari Devi and also started naming their kith and kin with goddess’ name. After some years Sri Adurthi Ramarao and Sri Kasi Krishna Murthy started performing puja on every Tuesday with great devotion. While constructing the temple, wooden idols were found in that area. Villagers pray them as forms of Sri Raja Rajeswari Devi. After some years, the temple got ruined. Again in 1990, Sri Kasi Rajashekharam (Buchhi Mesharu), son of Sri Kasi Krishna Murthygaru developed the temple and built the idol of the goddess Sri Raja Rajeswari Devi. Then villagers started celebrating the festival individually as per their convenience on Tuesday before or after “Chaitra Suddha Purnima”.The festival was called as “Vaaraala Pandaga”. Later Yendamuri VenkataRamana, Yendamuri Raja Rao and Itla family members constructed ground water well in temple premises.
