Poorly designed app. App said to check all exemptions that applied. I have had a homestead exemption since 2000 so I checked both that and my over-65 exemption. App reported that there was an additional owner on the title (my wife) and asked if I wanted to apply for another exemption for her. My wife is also 65 so I applied for that as well. Both homestead applications and my wife's over-65 were disallowed. Took over half an hour to sort it all out. Forget the app, use the mail-in form.

I used the updated version and it worked swimmingly! Sounds like the first version had problems with the camera, but no issues with the version I used. I had a very simple application, a regular homestead exemption, and it all took less than minute to scan my license and submit. The next day, my exemption was approved.

First time filing and found out from the Harris County Appraisal District website that this app was available. After reading the reviews I was skeptical it would work for me but decided to give it a try anyway. I'm glad I did as it saved me plenty of time and I had no issues at all. Just select your occupancy date, take a snap of your ID(front and back), enter your email address, and sign. Quick and easy. I received a confirmation email right after so thats good!
