The concept of recording by map the pictures you have taken is excellent. My introduction to the app has not been without a few teething problems, primarily with the app picking up pictures stored on my device that may be of similar creation date to the travel pictures that I do want recorded on Photo Map for Google Photos. I haven't found a way yet to drop those pictures from the map location, unless I'm prepared to delete them from the device, which i don't want to do.

Update 3: With the latest changes the app is now very useful again! Although I have over 40,000 photos in my library, I can now use a combination of a date range restriction and the 500 photo maximum to see my photos from a specific period of time. the author has been very accommodating to my suggestions!

Amazing idea a decent implementation. I would like to have an ability to hide photos and show just a heatmap. Also a small note on the data privacy would be nice. EDIT: I would like to know, for example, why the app wouldn't be able to steal photos BY DESIGN. I trust that you're doing this in a good faith. But this app is operating on the edge of the most private things for each user. So you need to be overtransparent on what and how the app is doing.

This app is an excellent way of viewing my photos on the world map! I granted access and my 15,000+ photos dating back almost 20 years were neatly plotted within 5 minutes. Absolutely amazing! As some have mentioned though, what kind of data protection is put in place from the developer? I'd suggest putting a brief disclosure at the opening of the app. I've been waiting years for Google Photos to implement this feature. The current location tagging software in the app is quite frankly, boring.

After Instagram decided photo maps weren't cool and removed them, I wanted to still keep a map of where I've taken photos. This app is good, probably better than Instagram's maps, because it uses Google Photos, which is where i back up my Pixel 2 pictures already! After authorizing the app, all of my pictures appear on a map just as they used to on Instagram so no complaints here! It may be scary giving all of your photos on Google Drive to this app, but I trust the dev isn't going to take 'em.

Folders I share on Drive don't show / are not synchronized. To test simply share a folder with someone else, then try Photo Map, it would exclude the folder. Also to be useful there should be an option specifically which Drive folders to sync. I don't use Google Photos. Which is why I have scan entire Drive enabled. Thumbs up for quick communication.
