About this app

Khem Veasna (// (About this sound listen) [kʰɨm ʋiəhsnaː]; Khmer: ខឹម វាសនា; born 11 December 1965) is a Cambodian politician, the founder of the League for Democracy Party,[1]businessman and a former actor, producer, director, representative of the Sam Rainsy Party for Prey Veng Province[2]. He currently serves as the president of the League for Democracy Party (LDP). He is addressed by everybody as their relative "Brother Veasna" or "Uncle Veasna". He is recognized by his supporters as the first Cambodian revolutionary.[3]

Veasna is a graduate of the Department of Media and Communication (RUPP). After graduation, he worked there for one and a half years. One more, He is a graduate of the Royal University of Law and Economics where he served as a generation president. He was tasked with solving the study issues. He graduated with a bachelor of law degree.[4]

In the engagement as a politician, initially, he was a member of the Sam Rainsy Party, listed as a nominee since 1998 but not elected, later at the 2003 National Assembly Election for 3rd term, he was elected as a representative for Prey Veng Province; at that time he was 38 years old, in 2005, He formed a political party called the League for Democracy Party.[5]

From 2005 to 2009, he was a speaker of the Training Development Organization (TDO). The purpose of this organization was explaining the democracy and dhamma to the people by going to some provinces. The money for processing this organization is from those who support the program, no aid from foreign organization. This organization was a part of the League For Democracy Party, and it was closed at the end of 2009.​​
