I downloaded the FishSmart app to my phone and managed to get it to connect to the unit. It immediately suggested I needed to update my Helix 9 to version 1.900. I downloaded this and uploaded it to the unit’s internal storage as directed by the app. I reset to defaults and restarted only to find that the unit already had v1.900 software on it. The phone app could not see what version I already had on my unit. So then, each time I boot up, it notifies me that I do not need to update to v1.900 as I already have v1.900 installed. I updated to v2.110 when it came out, I download this via the app and upload it to the internal storage as directed by the app. I reset to defaults and successfully installed v2.110 Now each time I reboot, it asks me “are you really sure you want to replace v2.110 with v1.900?” and I have to decline of course. This cannot go on as there is a real risk of me or someone else turning my unit on and downgrading my software or worse, turning my unit into a brick if the downgrade fails. You would think there is a way to delete the old v1.900 update file but apparently not. HB USA say it will cost me US$250 for me have it repaired by them even though I did everything as directed by this app!! HB Australia couldn't be bothered answering my email.

This app is totally useless. It won't even start up correctly. We spend thousands on electronics and humminbird can get a simple app right. The Navionics app is great. Get it together hummninbird!!! Seriously! This app is a total disgrace.

I am unable to update my units using this app. It required an act of Congress to get it to connect in the first place now it doesn't even give the option to update my units even though I know there is one available. I tried downloading the update to an SD card and this failed as well.

Keeps failing to run or locks most of its features. Wasted money buying lake maps I cant use most of the time. Makes you call service number to unlock app often. I rather be fishing then calling service center. Need to make app easier. It's a fishing app not a banking app but has security like a banking app.

The maps you can purchase are good and seem to be better than competitors I have tried, but this app needs significant work and is miles behind its iOS counterpart. The biggest flaw is that trying to add a track currently force closes the app. This is a must-have feature for me, so I'll be using a competitor and can't recommend this app. Another minor annoyance is that there is no way to hide the search bar. I'd rather see more of the map. You can hide it on the iOS version.

The maps expire after one year! I don't feel like this is clearly stated anywhere. I used this two years ago for ice fishing bought a bunch of maps and loved it. Last year I didn't get to go out. I went to use it this year and after a lot of trouble shooting and work I found out they expired. I would have never bought them if I'd have known that. I am a big humminbird fan and have a lot of equipment of theirs. But man, I am disappointed that they seem to be shady on this deal.
