This app has recently started using excessive battery 5% in 20 minutes. Also as other people have stated getting CPU overheat warnings and connectivity issues. I have to disable it in order to have a Whatsapp call or it will close the connection I've spoken support regarding the excessive battery use and cpu overheating and was told I could leave if was that big an issue and they could not advise on options to resolve this

It's alright I get my payment every month but it drains my battery and I have started getting a notification from my phone stating that the app is causing my cpu to over heat in my mobile I've had the app since last year I think and the cpu issue is a new one. This needs to be looked into as I can't risk my phone breaking.

As with others experiences, battery drain and also frequent messages saying the app lost contact with the microphone. Hoping that the recent update fixes this as it is getting very annoying!

Since downloading this, my phone has moments where it stops being able to connect to the Internet until I restart it.

If you use your phone for certain audio apps, like BBC Sounds, on a frequent basis, be prepared for many repeated texts, emails and voice calls saying that it's your fault their app doesn't work. For what they pay each month to listen to your private conversations, to say they want you to cut back on using other apps is a bit much. You'll get £10 a month for not doing much work however, if you can ignore the constant nagging and unhelpful support team.

Constantly having to restart my phone, if I make it receive a call or if a video auto plays on Facebook, if I listen to music or play a game the microphone turns off sometimes it just randomly turns itself off. I've been getting nearly daily text messages and phone calls saying they've lost the microphone, maybe you should try to fix the app so this doesn't happen. I've told this to several people who have rung me about losing the microphone and they've said we'll make a note...

About this app

MediaCell+ can only be used by invitation and is solely for eligible opted-in participants of Ipsos market research activities.

MediaCell+ is an Ipsos market research application which passively collects information about your device and how you use it, including measuring what you’ve been watching on TV and listening to on the radio and how you use the internet. This will help our clients shape the future of media in the UK. It is important to underline that no individual information will be ever shared with our clients, but only averages or aggregated data.
We just need you to enable the prompted notifications and permissions and keep the app running in the background of the phone and you’re good to go! In return, you’ll be rewarded with e-vouchers. And the longer you comply with our simple rules, the more rewards you can earn.

The MediaCell+ app uses the device microphone to listen out for coded audio or to generate audio signatures to measure which TV or radio station you are tuned to, but will never record any personal conversations. MediaCell+ also utilises a VPN service to monitor your web traffic. This on-device VPN is not an external server and does not modify your network traffic in any way.

We take every care to ensure that we comply with our legal, regulatory and ethical obligations, including GDPR and the Market Research Society Code of Conduct. We’ll never transfer, sell or distribute your personal information. We don’t collect the content of emails, SMS or other messages you send. All data transferred from the mobile device to our servers is encrypted with RSA public/private key encryption before uploading, as well as being transferred over HTTPS. We don’t collect data from personal websites or apps such as banking. The app can be uninstalled at any time to stop all data collection immediately.

Disclaimers:

• When leaving the panel, it is your responsibility to uninstall the app in order to prevent further collection of data.

• Be aware that constant use of the microphone may have a negative impact on the battery life of your device.
