Our company’s mission is to create a “fair trade” ride-sharing platform that benefits both the customer and the driver. Anyone familiar with “big box” ride-sharing services is certainly familiar with the often-employed tactic involving ridiculous surge charges. Also, a little know fact is that most large ride-sharing companies keep up to 30-percent of each driver’s fare. We created Better Ride for two reasons:

1) improve the cost of ride-sharing for customers and

2) allow drivers to increase their earnings by up to 30-percent.

Our story: Better Ride’s founders are ride-sharing drivers. As such, we identified an immediate need to improve the lives of ride-sharing drivers in New York City. Many drivers supporting other ride-sharing programs cannot make ends meet in order to support their families. It is not uncommon for Uber drivers to sleep in their cars, a technique often employed so Uber drivers never miss a potential fare. Such drivers have to fight for a handful of fares each day, while simultaneously relinquishing up to 30-percent on a given fare. We lived this unacceptable lifestyle, working for the big ride-sharing corporations, the so-called 1%, but we decided to take a stand…

Our response: We launched Better Ride. Our company was founded on the principles of establishing a platform for the fair and respectable treatment of both the customers and drivers. Better Ride aims to be the premier On Demand ride-sharing platform for “the new socially responsible way to ride.” We are part of the 99%!
