About this app

The Passport to Marine Adventure app rewards you for exploring the special places in the Salish Sea.

Within each site you will find recommended itineraries to explore the respective destination – this includes an array of marine recreation, environmental education, craft breweries, restaurants, cafes, accommodations and more.

There are coastal exploration sites in each of the seven counties comprising the “Northwest Straits” region. The sites make great day trips or can be visited combined for a longer getaway. We hope you enjoy the journey, and learn about life, health, and stewardship of the Salish Sea.

It’s simple: grab your family or friends; pick a location on our easy-to-use app; and chart a course for adventure. Along your journey, you’ll learn about marine wildlife, coastal habitat and the Salish Sea. You’ll see breathtaking vistas and be inspired by this unique place we call home.

The Northwest Straits region has opportunities for you to get involved through volunteering with Marine Resources Committees, the Northwest Straits Commission and Northwest Straits Foundation. Together, we’re working everyday as scientists, conservationists, educators, and stewards to preserve this area for future generations. We invite you to join us.


Create an Account
With a Passport to Marine Adventure account, you can collect points, and redeem them for goods or services at Rewards locations within the Northwest Straits.

Explore
The Explore button takes you to the map of the Salish Sea, which has pins indicating the location of our places of interest where you can collect points. Clicking on each pin on the map gives you more information about that location.

Collect Points
Many locations are assigned a point value, which can be collected when you are within GPS range of a location and have a connection to the internet. Pushing the “Collect Points” button while physically visiting a location will add the location’s points to your point total. To keep earning points, explore more locations. You can track your point total on Your Account page.

Redeem Rewards
Once you collect enough points, those points can be redeemed for goods or services at Passport to Marine Adventure Rewards locations, which are indicated in the app. Select the place where you would like to redeem your reward. Hitting the “Redeem Rewards” button while physically at a Rewards location will bring up a keypad for the place owner to enter a code to deduct points from your point total in exchange for your reward. You must have an internet connection in order to redeem points.

Find a place you want to let others know about? The Share button on each location’s page allows you to share information about that place via your social media channels.
