This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Met Alarm on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.
  2. Drag the APK/XAPK file directly into LDPlayer.

About this app

An alarm clock that wakes you up depending on the weather!

Do you have a hobby or job that is dependent on the weather? Are you often surprised by the change in forecast overnight? Do you wish you could lie in if the weather had changed? Now you can.

Met Alarm will get the Met Office forecast for one of 5000 locations, check it against your desired conditions, and only trigger if the forecast is same or better than your requirements. Since the application only uses Met Office data (for now), this application is only useful for those within the United Kingdom.

In this free version, with ads, you can only set one rule, and you can only set the Wind Speed. In the full version, you can also set Wind Gusts, Temperature, Feels Like Temperature, UV Levels, Humidity, Visibility, Chance of Rain, Weather Type and Wind Direction.

When the alarm sounds, it will also show you the forecast for your chosen location for verification. The free version only shows one period forecast, whereas the full version shows as many periods as have rules set for them.

In the settings, you can change the alarm sound (if your phone has them), the alarm volume, vibrating alarm and also the option to sound the alarm in case a network connection is not available for the forecast to be checked.

If you like the application, please consider upgrading to Met Alarm Pro which allows you to set as many rules as you like, set all the forecast parameters, and is free from ads.

Known bug - Application crashes if you leave the map screen too quickly before a check occurs to see if the selected location exists outside of the UK. Will only happen on slow (GPRS connections)
