Having used and enjoyed Guthook on the TA, I bought the AAWT map to use. Extremely disappointed with the amount of detail and with the fact that some sections seem to have the track following the wrong trail or not on trail at all. In particularly scrubby sections, the trail as shown seems to be a series of straight lines bearing no correlation to the actual track. It's like someone sat at a computer and drew it on rather than walked it.

Used it for my entire TA found it extremely useful it was my only map navigation resource read the trail notes night before section used it mainly as how far to hut camp road etc and if I got lost which happened often app worked in battery save and aeroplane mode all transmitters off battery lasted several days

Brilliant app, has been so handy the whole way along the TA. Would highly recommend it while out on the trail.👍

I found this a useful backup to The Trail App for Te Araroa. The photo interface is good and the distances reasonably accurate. The distance ahead and behind feature is great as is the ability to specify travel direction. I would give a higher rating but changing maps or between maps and photo overlay is surprisingly clunky for such a globally useful app.

Good app. Using for Te Araroa. Has everything you could ask for as a guide app. Takes a while to load up when opening. Note that no apps out there contains any unofficial "freedom/wild" campsites. Crossreference DOC land conservation map, offline topo, and offline satellite map to find public land conservation areas, flat spots, and clearings to plan camping.(download trail notes for other local camping restrictions). But app has listed huts and established campsites you can easily hop from

Would be useful for planning...but and it's a big but...the distances are all wrong typically 5-10% short, at least for the Bibbulmun Track which is what I am using it for. E.g there is 5km difference between Pemberton and Northcliffe that translates into another 1.25 hours walking. And I have found the problem all along the track to the point I add 10% to all Guthook distances. Would be great if comments could be added off line and updated later because on track we are mostly off line. Good potential not accurate enough. 3 stars.
