This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing HERE Tracker on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. Great app for tracking. 💡 it would be nice if you add the possibility to archive the disconnected/old devices instead of removing them.

Followed all the instructions in order to register a new device ID on the smartphone I wish to track, but the website simply won't provide a device ID. After a few seconds, it returns a "Couldn't add the device" error message.

About this app

HERE Tracker is a reference application that allows a smartphone to connect to the HERE Tracking cloud, emulating an IoT device. To start, obtain HERE Tracking credentials from the HERE Asset Tracking app (https://asset.tracking.here.com). Once provisioned with those credentials, this app reports the phone's location and other telemetry at user-defined intervals. Just like for a purpose-built IoT tracking hardware, the location and history can be seen in the HERE Asset Tracking app (https://asset.tracking.here.com).

Please make sure the HERE Tracker app is allowed to run in the background on your Android device. Be aware that depending on your device and its power management settings, the OS may nonetheless occasionally close the app; it will then need to be restarted.
