USING THE COLLAR, WHAT TO EXPECT
Firmware updates - If you are prompted for firmware updates to collar or basestation, please select yes to ensure best performance. Please keep your phone near the device for the short time it takes to install the update from the app to the devices. We have planned updates to firmware which improve accuracy and battery life.
Assisted Location Services - When the collar is indoors, or shadowed from the sky by tall buildings, GPS locations take longer and accuracy is reduced. Mobile phone location services go beyond GPS, using additional information like wifi and cell towers to refine GPS locations, and the Nuzzle app can use those to improve the collar's location accuracy. If the collar is connected to your phone via BlueTooth and the Nuzzle app is running, (foreground or background) we use both the phone's location and the collar's location to compute the pet's location. We only collect the phone's location if the app is running and has connected to the collar over Bluetooth.
Collar battery Life - Averages 12-30 hours, depending on time spent within range of the Basestation. and whether Cellular or Bluetooth is used for uploads. Keep your extra battery charging and ready to go.

We're working on app, collar firmware, and server changes to quickly improve these features:
Location accuracy
GPS location responsiveness - Less time to determine your pets location
Improve mapping - Include the Basestation area in routes to make it easier to see where your pet started from and ended up
Near Basestation maps - Show times where pet is near the Basestation in the maps area
Our longer term changes include UI improvements, turning on the insurance features, and improving app responsiveness while reducing network demands.
Note that these improvements come automatically to ALL collar owners, all the hardware is designed for in-the-field upgrades.
