App crashes constantly. It made the two tours we tried very frustrating. I spent half my time pulling the car over, restarting the app, and trying to find where we left off. When it crashes, it cuts off the guide audio. So it you do find your spot, it begins playing at the beginning again. SUPER ANNOYING.

The drives to Western Rim of the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam were perfect! It made every detail on the drive enjoyable. My husband was suitably impressed, as was I. For some reason unknown to us, the drive to and through Red Rock Canyon kept repeating each commentary. Of course, we paused it the second time it started up once we realized this was going to happen for each location and then the app picked up at the next point. Just a glitch for us? We hope so. We loved this app and will use it

This was one of the best parts of our trip. In fact, my husband was sad when we had to pull into our hotel parking lot. Please do a Route 66 tour!! Lol forward to doing more of these in the future.

So informative! We used it Red Rock, Hoover Dam and Vegas strip. It really is having a personal tour guide in your car. Lots of helpful tips ( for ex: do the Hoover Dam tour first before climbing up to the bridge. We beat the crowds!) We liked how "George" ( that's what we named the narrator) would stay in the background and pop up with information. Highly recommend!

Gypsy tours brings the self-guided exploration to a whole new level. Pros: Really interesting info, excellent diction, doesn't require data. Areas to improve: app UI doesn't use Google maps and it's a bit clunky. It will auto center on your current location and keep jumping back to it. That makes going back to previous/missed info sections rather difficult. Also, I-11 bypass for I-93 recently opened and we accidentally ended up on it. Had to figure out how to rejoin the tour

So much better than a bus tour. We discovered GyPSy in banff canada, and we loved it. So we did it again in Las Vegas to do Hoover dam and red rock canyon. We love being able to go at our own pace, and it's actually cheaper to rent a car and buy this tour then to get 2 bus tickets. The info on the tours is very interesting, and the driving instructions are great. Whenever we go on vacation we check to see if GyPSy has a tour in the area. I'm glad they keep adding more.

3) Red Rock Canyon
4) Plus there is bonus commentary up and down the Strip.

You can combine Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon into one day. Its recommended to leave Las Vegas by 9.30am.
Hoover Dam and Red Rock can be combined into one day.
Driving to Red Rock Canyon is worth a 1/2 day of your time.

NOTES

Download the app on Wi-Fi from your network at home or use any free Wi-Fi network. Because the app is filled with audio commentary and maps, its larger than "normal" apps. Many phone/data networks may block the download because of size - so its important to download over a Wi-Fi network.

++ Continued use of GPS running in the background increases battery usage - we strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charger. This is much better than simply plugging into the USB port in a vehicle.
