Fantastic App and tour guide! It was well worth every penny! The tour guide made our trip very enjoyable and we would have missed several key points of interest and must do stops without it. I also did not have a cellular connection for a few hours during the trip and the app continued to work via the GPS signal tracking our location and playing as expected. Our kids also really enjoyed the history stories that were told by the tour guide. Thank you GyPsy Guide for the awesome tour!

By far the best app I've ever usedWe used it for our drive down PCH& was the highlight of our full Californian Road Trip. Really felt like we had a friendly tour guide in our car! Our kids were sad when it was time to say goodbye in San Luis Obispo and we were all gutted that he wasn't there for the rest of our trip and that we didn't know about it until after Yosemite. Has certainly encouraged us Scot's to do more road trips to the US &Canada solely based on this app! Cannot recommend it enough!

App did not work for me. When we would hit a point in the road where an audioclip was supposed to play the it triggered correctly but always only played around 6-20 seconds of the audioclip. Could not even jump around manually inside the clip using the media player on the app. Even tried re-installing the app completely but nothing worked. Cool idea but extremely pointless if you only are able to hear parts of the first sentence. Going to look into if it's possible to get a refund for this.

This app is an incredible experience and gives you fantastic narration and history while driving down the coast. Remember you often lose signal in some of these more remote driving areas download this app in advance and it's worth EVERY penny. Do yourself a favor and plan a drive around one of these.

First used GyPSy Guide for Road to Hana in Hawaii last year. I was happy to see they also make a Big Sur guide for our California vacation this year. Like the Road to Hana, the guide worked flawlessly. The information provided was interesting and relevant the entire drive. I highly recommend.

great App especially in the offline area like this it still works and allowed us to stop at many places we would never have known about.

It’s Just Like Having a Tour Guide in Your Car™

WHAT TO EXPECT:

This tour can be driven in either direction, north to south or reverse – it’s your choice.

The coastline through the Big Sur region is incredibly scenic. Highway 1 climbs onto sea cliffs as high as 800 feet, and down into beautiful coves filled with sand, tidal pools and often seals. Every corner opens a new vista and you will want to stop frequently for the views and photos.

We’ll point out many waterfalls that are viewed from the roadside, and some that might require a short hike to reach. There are rocky coves to explore and shorelines that even wash up gemstones for a little beach-combing. Wildlife sightings like sea otters, elephant seals and condors overhead are essentially guaranteed. Even the redwoods are larger than life.

Some of the small communities along the route are classic Californian beach towns, unique to the region and Hearst Castle is a cultural icon and a location that holds many surprises.

In fact, there are so many stops to make, you could spend a week and not see them all. The tour commentary will make sure you know the top 7 "not to be missed" locations, so you won’t miss any of the best things to see and do.

WHAT YOU’LL SEE:

Some of the highlights along the route include;

• Bixby Bridge
• Pfeiffer Beach
• Nepenthe
• Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park
• McWay Falls
• Hearst Castle
• Moonstone Beach
• Elephant Seals Vista
• Partington Cove
• Point Lobos
• Morro Bay
• And many more State Parks, scenic lookouts and photo opportunities

BATTERY USAGE:
++ Continued use of GPS/Location Services in the background increases battery usage. We strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charger. Avoid using a direct connection to the USB port of a rental vehicle.

DOWNLOADING:
The apps are larger in size in order to work offline. You must be on wifi to download as the store may block the download over cellular networks.
