About this app

About Chass Bass Patterns
Understanding chords is an important part of mastering the tone side of playing bass (as opposed to the rhythm side). If you feel frustrated for not knowing what records to play in the original bassline, maybe because you do not know and understand the chord.
Chord is very important. I urge you to be very thorough in reading this and other lessons I add in this category.
What is Chord?
A CHORD is a group of notes played together at the same time. The bass player does not play chords as often as a guitarist or pianist. This is because playing some low-pitched tones at the same time can sound muddy. Playing chords on a bass can sometimes fill in too much sonic space that competes with the rest of the band. It can be done, but it must be done carefully.
Instead of playing chords directly, bassists outline chord notes. Bassists emphasize the individual notes that make up the chords. By outlining the chord tones, a bassist implies a certain chord sound.
To give you an example, the C major chord is created by playing a combination of C, E, and G tones at the same time. As a bass player, I can create the C major chord impression on the bass line by splitting the C, E, and G records individually. I can play it in sequence, repeat the note, change the order, etc. If I play C-C-E-E-G-G-E-E, I will imply the sound of the C major chord.
to further explain please you try it yourself on this application.
