The app is just OK. I immediately deleted it because the info is just not worth keeping around unless you are a lawyer who deals with telemental health issues across state lines. As a clinician, I would much prefer if it was on their website where I could bookmark it because the info is too bulky in app form. I did download the app on my phone, so maybe if it were on a tablet it would be more like an e-book, which would be just fine. But my suggestion is for the app to feature a "cliff notes" version of the info with drop downs for those who want to read the exact language of the laws. They should also update their blogs section. They have way more in news and pubs on their website, which if featured in the app would give reason to keep it on my device. Overall, I'm not sure who their target audience is, but they should maybe partner with clinicians and/or researchers who study and practice telemental health then add best practices and resources for delivering services and navigating telemental health in general.

About this app

Epstein Becker Green presents the Telemental Health Laws app, a 50-state survey of telemental / telebehavioral health.

This is a groundbreaking, comprehensive survey on the laws, regulations, and regulatory policies impacting the provision of “telemental health” services - i.e., mental health care services delivered via interactive audio or video, computer programs, or mobile applications - in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

With changes rapidly taking place in this industry, Epstein Becker Green recognized the benefit of providing complimentary access to this survey. The Telemental Health Laws survey tracks the rapid growth of telemental health and the continually complex legal issues associated with this trend in health care. Additionally, the survey provides a comprehensive source for state-by-state coverage of legal issues related to the provision of telemental health services.

Compiled by attorneys in Epstein Becker Green’s Telehealth & Telemedicine practice, the survey was originally released in 2016, revised and released as an app in 2018, and regularly updated since then.
