This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Remote for Roku on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. Basically it's really good except a message saying something like "auto detect failed" whenever I switch between my home screen and the app, it covers some of the controls so it's annoying. If it got fixed I would update my rating to 5*. This connects to my roku stick instantly every time and it looks good. I like the haptic feedback on the keys. Update: crashes when I press 'back' to the home screen every time so I use the home button. Not a big deal but annoying still.

It did not work. I checked tasty it was on the same network but it can not detect my roku device .

Doesn't control Roku box well at all. In fact, it does something so wrong that my other remotes won't work either until I force close this app. Secret menu and bitrate functions don't work either. Don't waste your time or money.

....if you have the new roku UI update OR dont update if you haven't. This version of remote for roku wont work. I really love this app. 3s for been a previous Pleased user. Update please for 5s. Thanks. update to developer: (by 3s and 5s i mean 3-5 stars)

To use your own custom image as a background skin, copy any image into the RokuRemote folder in your SD card. The image name must be one of the following: Custom1.jpg, Custom2.jpg or Custom3.jpg. You can then select Custom1, Custom2 or Custom3 for your skin in Device Preferences. If you select a custom image from the preferences screen that doesn’t exist, the default skin will be used. The bundled images are 320 by 480 pixels, but any image should work and scale to fit the screen.

*** Troubleshooting ***
If you see lag between the app and the Roku, please restart your phone/tablet and the Roku. This will resolve 95% of issues. Should only need to do this every once in a while.
