After subscribing to Dark Sky for years and now Carrot Weather available for Android, I downloaded and subscribed to premium . What a disappointment! No maps, No radar, no precipitation reporting - just snarky screen messages developers thought was cute. There's no customization widget. the functionality is embarrassingly deficient. This app is a waste of time for Android. It's nothing compared to the iPhone version. Don't waste your time. I'm asking for a refund of subscription.

First and foremost, this app does look and work great. But it was still a let down for me. I downloaded it because I saw how awesome it was on my wife's IPhone. This version is lacking comparatively. The snarky voice isn't the same, and you can't use the widgets unless you subscribe to the premium service which is $3.99 a year. Even then there's only 2 basic widgets, ads removed and a weather time machine. I'd pay a one time fee for that but not a recurring subscription.

I was pretty excited to try out this app based on a review from the Verge. I was also left behind by the Apple - DarkSky acquisition. DarkSky was my go to app for over three years. Their widget was bar none. And based on The Verge article, I was hoping CARROT would fill this void left by DarkSky. Unfortunately, after signing up for the premium club free trial to use the widget, I was VERY disappointed. The only widget sizes are 4x2 or 5x2. which is the size that I had DarkSky in, so I wasn't concerned by that... the problem came once the widget loaded. it really only has information in the top 1/3 of the widget, and more than half of that is one of the snarky messages (which are the saving grace of this application, I love these funny political quips!!) the other part at the top of the widget is a fairly small read out of the current temperature, high and low for the day, and an icon showing the current weather conditions. With how much space the widget takes up, I would expect SO MUCH MORE. it's really disappointing. The same info would live perfectly fine in a 2x1 widget. What is the intended use of all of this blank space?? As mentioned above, the one thing that I do very much enjoy from this application is the snarky comments. I love that you can adjust the tone and political affiliation of the comments, that's fun. In addition, the Secret Locations game is entertaining. The UI within the application is pleasant and easy to use, but I'm one to check my weather from my homescreen widgets more often than opening the full app. Overall, this app in it's currents state is NOT worth 3.99 a year, and definitely not work 99 cents a month. If the widget could be updated with more helpful information, like an upcoming forecast timeline, or like preciptitation chance for the next few hours or something like that, those improvements may lead me to resubscribe and re-download this app. Until these updates are made (and maybe screenshots of the widget would be great too) I will be cancelling my trial and moving on from this application. I look forward to what hopefully to come of this app in the future.

Good app, terrible widgets. Started the free trial in order to try them out, but they took up a whole lot of screen with quippage (tolerable) and empty space (intolerable). Cancelled the subscription. Would pay for a good widget with just solid high density weather info. Despite the jokey personality stuff, this is a sensible appthat delivers plenty of info immediately you open it, on one screen without scrolling. Pretty much all I ask.

Love that the app is funny, mean, and cheeky Hate that the weather is vastly different (read: inaccurate) compared to say, the weather network. Would appreciate being able to get more localized data by entering my postal code, instead of getting a general readout for my city... meaning it probably comes from a single source. (which for Toronto is most likely Pearson airport weather station which has wildly different weather compared to downtown) Hopefully future updates get better info🤞🤞

So close, yet so far. Like many others, I was looking for a Dark Sky replacement and came across this app from The Verge's article. Their website makes it seems like it has all the features Dark Sky has and a wacky personality to boot. However, don't be fooled. Notifications, maps, etc, etc are only available on the iOS version. I would gladly pay for these features on Android but they're simple not available
