It's a great app but I used to use Hangouts and when we called on there, the phone used to ring instead of the notification and that was extremely nice. The latest update build is weird and recently having troubles with sending videos from gallery. And when my friend sends a picture it never goes through and same for videos for me, after like 30 seconds long. Please fix/change these. It would give a lovely add on. Overall in love with this app ❤

This app absolutely blows when it comes to trying to send a video. It has no problem allowing you to share from something like YouTube. But when you try to send a video from your own gallery in your device it fails half the time. When it does finally go through it takes what seems like an hour to send a small five or 10 minute video. But generally just fails perpetually. There's no excuse for this. Other apps did this properly 10 years ago. Fix this garbage.

It works great. I love the app, it runs really well, and it's about as trustworthy as you can get (besides your phone's messaging app) , as it's Google. My one complaint is the new formatting in conversations. I really loved the old format, with simplicity and black backgrounds with no text bubbles. It was easy on the eyes, and it was like a little push for you to add the color within your conversations. This made them a lot more interesting and pleasant. I do not like the latest version.

Good, but not great. It recently was updated to have the same four basic colors like all Google icons. Making difficult to find now. I do love that the app is free and an alternative to traditional texting. However after the latest update the app seems to be having trouble sending messages when I reply from the drop-down menu. Sometimes not sending replies at all.

Some honest feedback because the more I interact with Google the more I feel the company needs it. I can't speak to all the problems others are having, the app seems to work fine. My request is to please offer an option to use the previous icon. Google's attempt at consistent branding is becoming a major headache for users because there are too many of these simple 4-color designs and they begin to look similar to one another. Icons should stand out for easy visual reference. Options would help.

Update: Google updated chat and it now works again. Putting 3 stars for bad experience. ------- Chat suddenly stopped showing notifications in Android Auto. It seems to be related to a recent update. Edit: I followed the suggestion from Google, it had nothing to do with Android Auto and I was already set to get notifications. My 1-star review remains accurate. If I want a message in Android Auto, I need to text instead of using Chat.
