About this app

This app is designed to combat the problem of Hunger present in our society. With a population of 1.3 billion, India is the world’s second-most populous country. Despite phenomenal Industrial, Economic growth and being self-suffice to produce food to feed its population, it is unable to provide access to food to a large number of people, especially women and children. The Global Hunger Index 2018 ranks India at 103 out of 119 countries based on three leading indicators -- the prevalence of wasting and stunting in children under 5 years, under 5 child mortality rates, and the proportion of undernourished in the population. When we explore the reasons for hunger in India, food wastage by the upper & middle classes of the society prevails at the top. It is estimated that nearly one-third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year gets lost or wasted. Food is cooked at households, Function-halls, Restaurants. When excess food is cooked, it gets wasted. This excess food is dumped off somewhere. Instead of
disposing of the excess food cooked as waste, it can be used to feed the needy and hungry. We aim at weeding out Hunger at community-level, giving a boost to ZERO HUNGER (Sustainable Development Goal 2) – a goal set to eradicate hunger, malnutrition and thereby, to ensure nutritious food for all. This Android Application ‘FOOD 4 ALL’ which
can now be used in Android Phones contributing to serve the needs and hunger of deprived sects of our society.
