About this app

EcoHike is a collaborative platform for those who enjoy hiking and backpacking and care about clean environment. EcoHike application allows you to spot the locations, spoiled by various types of waste (both natural and artificial, like plastic or glass) on a map. Users can add geographical coordinates, descriptions and photos of polluted places. Marked spots are visible to all users of EcoHike, who can consider problematic places alongside their track while hiking or backpacking and joint their efforts to clean up these locations.

All changes on a map (both adding new spots and removal of resolved issues) are verified by EcoHike superusers and administrators. Future versions of the application will allow you to search polluted spots on a map and plan your hiking and backpacking routes accordingly.

GlobalLogic designed and developed this app to contribute to the wellbeing of community and to help make our environment cleaner and safer.

As our core speciality is digital product engineering, we applied our knowledge and experience to create this experimental app and donated it to environmental activists community. Since EcoHike app is a part of our voluntary donation to community and our social responsibility under GlobalLogic Foundation, this app should not be considered as final commercial product by GlobalLogic.

This app is expected to be used as is. We inform you of our limited liabilities of further support and development of this app except for critical security and functionality issues.

EcoHike app and platform are moderated and managed by a group of social and environmental activists that may not have direct connection to GlobalLogic.

Primary goal of the app is to help cleaning the Carpathian mountains. Other regions may be added into the scope of the app as environmental community behind this app grows.

App Permissions

Allows applications to open network sockets.
Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.
Allows applications to access information about networks.
Allows an app to access precise location.
Allows an app to access approximate location.
Allows an application to read from external storage.
Allows applications to access information about Wi-Fi networks.
Allows an application to receive the ACTION_BOOT_COMPLETED that is broadcast after the system finishes booting.
