This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing gfWalk on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.

About this app

With the help of gfWalk, you can record walks (trips, hikes, travels) and keep their archive. It stores the track of the walk and the artifacts (photos, video/audio records and text notes) made while walking. Later, you can view the track on the map (together with artifacts' markers) and the artifacts in the gallery. Also, you get some statistics of the walk: duration, distance, etc.
Having started a walk recording, you may switch to other applications, where you can make photos, record video and audio in usual way. The program - working in the background - will find and incorporate all of these into the walk. Then you can switch back and discover your track and current position (which could be handy if you’re lost) and the artifacts on the map. When the walk recording is finished, it becomes available for viewing in the walk list.
While recording all available sources of geodata are used: GPS, Wi-Fi, cellular network.
Optimized for pedestrian tours, tested in Moscow.
