Text messages and don't pop up on screen anymore and also the weather overlay hasn't been working for a few years which was very helpful instead of using phone while driving. When I click on weather it's says something about check service details. At least rerouting still works but definitely lost some good useful tools.

The older version is better. You can no longer fully control your smart notifications and the ones you can control are useless. Updated - Still not working software February 2025. Smart notifications now does not work at all! Just fix the Smart notifications portion, nobody uses the ability to answer their phone through your Garmin Drivesmart!

I don't understand why this company refuses to make an app for maps/Navigation in the Car people don't want buy your old gps navigation systems because people steal them from people's cars and there's no way to track the devices .Just create a maps navigation app for the car that we can use on the cell phone so we don't have to worry about people stealing actual g.P s hardware we can't track Your competition company, tom tom is doing it please get with the program and just create the app.

Always on, and shows in my notification. Messy and clearly lacking any update and support. Not what I expected from garmin.

Since the last update in January 2025, the app has lost functionality. While it still works for phone calls, text messages are no longer shown on the GPS screen. This was a feature that I used quite a bit during my work day. Now I have to look at my phone to see if I missed any text messages instead of having them pop up on my screen which is a major letdown. Hopefully they will fix this soon.

Smartphone Link allows you to connect a compatible Garmin navigator and your Android smartphone. Once linked, the compatible Garmin navigator uses your existing mobile data plan[1] to share information with your Android smartphone, including contacts, search results, favorite locations, your driving destination, and even your parking spot. With Smartphone Link, your compatible Garmin navigator can also access Garmin Live Services[2] for useful, real-time driving information.

What Are Garmin Live Services?

Garmin Live Services provide the most up-to-date “live” information to your Garmin navigator using your existing mobile data plan. There’s no need for an additional data connection. Some services are included when you connect to Smartphone Link. Other services within the app are available through optional paid subscriptions offering premium content and enhanced features. To receive data relevant to your location, Garmin Live Services require your current GPS location be shared with Garmin and Garmin partners.

Included Live Services:

• Address sharing - Send locations and online search results from your phone to your compatible Garmin navigator, and navigate there

• Garmin Live Traffic
Avoid delays and find detours with the best-in-class real-time information. Garmin Live Traffic is updated every minute and receives more than 1,000 messages every update cycle

Save time, and take the stress out of parking. View helpful parking information, including pricing and availability trends for on-street public parking, as you approach your destination.

• Weather - View forecasts and current conditions

• Last Mile - Remembers your parking spot and shows your destination, so you can find your way on foot and back again
