Mit der Mathildenhöhe App begeben Sie sich auf Zeitreise auf der Mathildenhöhe. Historische Ansichten werden über aktuelle Bilder gelegt und veranschaulichen so, wie sich die Mathildenhöhe in der Zeit der Künstlerkolonie und auch danach entwickelt hat.

Als Großherzog Ernst Ludwig 1899 sieben junge Künstler des Jugendstils auf die Mathildenhöhe einlud, war das die Geburtsstunde der Darmstädter Künstlerkolonie, die bis 1914 bestand. In vier großen Ausstellungen zeigten die Künstler ihre Vorstellung einer modernen, künstlerisch gestalteten Wohn- und Lebenswelt. Ihre Bauten bilden das Gesamtkunstwerk Mathildenhöhe, das heute zu den bedeutendsten Jugendstil-Ensembles in Deutschland gehört.
