About this app

The paella is a traditional dish from Valencia. Valencian people are very attached to it, that's the reason why they get so hotheaded when they see a meal that's called paella but doesn't follow the original recipe.
A well trained human eye can tell difference between a true paella and a fake one. For instance, the original one doesn't have seafood.

Tips:
-Make the picture when the paella is still on the pan.
-Don't take a photo of a screen showing a paella. Usually the camera captures the pixels grid of the screen and that confuses the convnet; use the open file button.
-Please, remember it has an 85% of accuracy.
-Lots of maths are performed in your phone, be a little patience.
-Developed for educational purposes.

This context gave me the opportunity to check if a convolutional neural network could distinguish between a Valencian paella and something else. And it does! with an 85% of accuracy. The model was built with 1000 pictures using Keras. The app might seem heavy, that's because the classification is performed on your phone with Tensorflow.

The emoji used was created by Justin Ternet, I'm using it under the CC license.

PS: Paella is not my favourite meal. ;)
