Con questa iniziativa viene sottolineato il grande valore ambientale e paesaggistico di una delle valli più meridionali del Ticino, situata in una regione fra le più densamente popolate della Svizzera e che racchiude particolarità geologiche, floristiche e faunistiche rappresentative e di notevole interesse...

Questi aspetti naturalistici risultano essere anche di particolare valore didattico e sono accompagnati da una storia passata e recente della valle intimamente legata alla presenza dell'Uomo che, tramite attività artigianali protrattesi per secoli, ha dato vita nella valle a una intensa attività molinara, estrattiva di materia prima e fornaciara.

La Valle della Motta, che si estende e si dirama per alcuni chilometri verso Chiasso, da origine ad un paesaggio agricolo e forestale del tutto particolare.
Un paesaggio non solo interessante da un punto di vista estetico, ma anche straordinariamente ricco di contenuti naturali. La Valle della Motta è uno dei principali poli verdi nella pianura urbanizzata del Mendrisiotto e merita dunque il nostro massimo rispetto.
Grazie alla sua posizione centrale e alla facilità di accesso e di percorrenza, essa possiede anche un valore elevato quale area di svago per la popolazione del grande agglomerato che si estende tra Chiasso, Mendrisio e Stabio.
Il progetto di Parco intende sviluppare le vocazioni naturalistiche e ricreative della Valle della Motta, al fine di offrire alla comunità un luogo di qualità ambientale che sarà nel tempo sempre più importante.
