Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Device Stats on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Very useful for developers to quickly check basic stats, especially screen density, for multiple devices. This tool tells you exactly how Android sees the device in terms of dp and px while also telling the category xhdp, xxhdp, etc.

About this app

An app for developers to quickly get some some device stats from test or client devices with the option to email the stats collected.

I am looking at some security hardening techniques and found some older and Chinese devices didn't support the crypto I expected.

Specifically as I was interested in:
- SSL: The version of TLS and SSL cipher suites supported by different devices
- Encryption: the providers, algorithms and modes supported

If there's time in a future version I'll add the option to upload to Parse and display crowd sourced stats for other devices.
