About this app

Please note: the initial release of this app is designed for the city of Austin, TX. In the future, we plan to add more cities.

What happens when we leave the areas to which we are assigned? How do we interact? Do we interact? Are we comfortable or fearful? Is this fear justified? How much segregation is based on culture, and how much is based on discomfort with the unknown?

Take this app and explore your city. Go where you are familiar and where you are a visitor. Say a little or say a lot. Introduce the City of Austin to what you think when you traverse it. Use your anonymous data to shape a land-use code indicative of all of Austin, rather than the few who are consistently granted agency based on previous patterns.

Because Austin is trying to live up to its reputation, the city needs more information about how to make it a more open space for people regardless of backgrounds. Go anywhere in the Greater Austin area for any reason, and answer a few short questions about your experience. This information gets fed into a server that records the location and the experience in the area surrounding the location. If more information can be provided about the experience, users can write a report that gets sent directly to the Equity Office.
