Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing GPS Speedometer on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

Doesn't work on samsung s6 no menu button cant turn off cant read speed above 99 kmh because of text wrap numbers are covered. Total junk

Really slow at getting up to speed. The same issue when slowing down. Lacks setting options, such as brightness, color, etc. I should have tested it, before buying it.

Compass doesn't work and average speed/distance give incorrect readings....but nice layout and colour choices good. Would like a refund.

About this app

GPS Speedometer is a speedometer application that uses your phone's internal GPS module to calculate your current speed and display it with large, easy to read, LCD-like fonts. It will also display your total travel time, your average speed, maximum reached speed, your heading and elevation, a nice compass and forward and lateral accelerations.

#### Now with HUD (head-up display) mode* - just press "Menu" - "Enable HUD mode" and put your phone face up on the dashboard, under the windshield; the screen will mirrored and it will be reflected by the windshield.

*HUD mode needs more CPU power than normal mode.

Features:

- High accuracy. The speed calculated based on GPS data is more accurate than the one displayed by your car's speedometer

- HUD mode

- It supports both imperial and metric units

- 5 predefined color themes available

- It can record your path, speed, distance, and elevation and save them in a KML file (for Google Earth) - just press "Menu", select "Settings" and "Record track".

- It can work in the background, so it can record your movement and speed even while you're talking on the phone. This means that if you really want to exit the application, you have to press "Menu" and select "Exit".


It requires the following permissions:

- WAKE_LOCK in order to prevent the screen from turning off

- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION (GPS based location) for reading GPS data

- WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE in order to save the KML file

Please note that while I've tested the application on several Android devices, there are way to many different Android devices to guarantee that it will work just fine on all of them, so if you encounter a problem with the application, just drop me an email with your phone model and a short description of your problem; I will do my best to fix it ASAP.

Also, please note that this application comes with NO SUPPORT whatsoever. I'm just one guy who develops apps as a hobby, in my little free time that I have. If you have a problem, I will do my best to fix it, but I can't guarantee that it will be as fast as you might like it. Likewise, I will also do my best to reply to emails, but the truth is that sometimes I'm overwhelmed.
