It shows your phone data in read only mode, but in full access mode it makes you put out your files into a folder called "files" that's buried deep in the bowels of the app. Settings lets you choose what SD card to put it on, but not the location where it's stored. Also the permissions are wrong and the API it uses is for an older version of Android.

Brilliant! Exactly what I needed for my phone that has lost USB connectivity. Easily transferred all files using Filezilla as an FTP client on my Windows 7 machine and Android 7 phones. Flawless.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS. Absolutely useless. Waste of three hours of my time. So called created network was not recognized my my computer. Absolutely no troubleshooting instructions readily available in app or online. Could not connect computer any of the ways suggested. And the website!? Maybe you connect maybe you don't. Who knows how many times you try. Scanning the code on the screen...nothing ....error 505. Still no solution to fix.

Why isn't the app updated even in 2018 to take advantage of SD card write permissions since Android 5.0 Lollipop (2014) ?

I love this app! Just as I got tired of messing about with USB cables (and sometimes having the laptop fail to see my Fire tablet!), it suddenly occurred to me to think: "Hang on - the laptop and tablet both have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, both of which are wireless. Surely there's a way of transferring files wirelessly!" A few seconds' Googling and I had the perfect answer: this app! As far as I can tell it works flawlessly and fast in both directions with no data errors.

This is a qualified 4 star rating, as I only use one mode of the app. I use SDC to configure my phone as an FTP server and then access the phone's file system with Windows Explorer. This function is accessed from the "Computer" button (?) on the bottom menu. You start the service, and an FTP URL is provided that I enter into Windows Explorer. I needed a replacement for Microsoft's Windows Companion, which it has phased out. This app reliably moves GB's of audio files between my S7's SD card and my WIndows 10 PC. Be aware that write access to the SD card's file system is not available,. Files must be written to a "Files" folder created by the program under Android\Data\com.damiapp.softdatacable\Files. You can build or copy any folder structure you wish to this folder, then move it where you wish after the file copy is done. (I use Samsung MyFiles for that.) It would be nice if the user could choose the location of the Write folder rather than always having to go digging through the Android/Data folder structure to find new files. Better yet, allow write access to the file system directly.
