Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing CAptain's Mate on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Useful reports, but slow to start. The app now crashes when I click on map view, was working fine last month. It would be great if CA would incent members to submit reports, maybe offer a membership discount for adding reports.

Useful tool but really slow to start up as it is updating reports. I suspect it is a complete refresh and the situation will only get worse as more reports are added.

Quits without warning on start up and often fails to upload. Potentially great functionality but have found reliability variable which is a great pity.

The moving around within map is terrible. Slow and does not auto remember your last search area. Takes me forever to bring up Greek islands and incredibly frustrating. Comments from members however are wonderful. App just needs fine tuning of search on actual maps and ease of use.

About this app

This application gives Cruising Association members access to the CA’s huge database of cruising reports and allows them to share information, experiences and opinions on destinations they reach in their boats. It also includes facilities to find other CA members nearby (on an opt-in basis), identify discounts available to CA members, and look up the CA's Honorary Local Representatives, worldwide. To use it, you must be a Cruising Association member with a CA website account.

Founded in 1908 to meet the needs of cruising sailors, the CA has been a home to many of the great names in sailing.
