Senam hamil adalah adalah terapi latihan gerak untuk mempersiapkan ibu hamil, secara fisik atau mental, pada persalinan cepat, aman, dan spontan.Ibu hamil mulai dapat melakukan senam hamil bahkan sejak bulan-bulan pertama kehamilan. Tetapi akan lebih optimal bila dilakukan saat usia kandungan mencapai 6 bulan ke atas.Senam hamil terbukti aman baik bagi ibu maupun janin selama dilakukan dengan tepat dan tidak ada kondisi lain yang melarang. Sebelum memutuskan mengikuti senam hamil, diskusikanlah dahulu kondisi kehamilan dengan dokter kandungan atau bidan.
Tujuannya, “Agar peredaran darah di tubuh meningkat dan oksigen yang dibawa ke otot-otot dan jaringan tubuh bertambah. Selain itu, juga untuk menjaga kemungkinan terjadinya kejang atau luka akibat gerakan-gerakan senam selanjutnya.”
