About this app

Uses your phone as a timing chip device for virtual running events in the Chicago area. The app requires access to the device's location in order to time the run. The runner must carry the phone while running and pass waypoints on a designated route. The app provides directions for the course layout. When the run is completed, the user is prompted to submit the result via email. These are "fun runs" not affiliated with any entities, and there is no fee. The courses are designed without street crossings in order to simulate race day conditions. Generally, locations are selected to avoid crowds. Currently, they are mostly south of the city, but more may be added in future updates to the app.
