About this app

Directed Gallery allows you to direct it where to look to find the photos that you want to display, rather than making you sort through thousands of photos on your device.

This app is designed take advantage of tablets while still working on phones.

It shows a list of your preferred photos and folders. This list also shows thumbnails of the photos. After you have browsed through your photos once and added your favorites to your "Prefs" list, those photos are easy to find next time.

Here's how to use the app (after you have set it up):

Go to the "Prefs page" by pressing the "Prefs" icon or the app's "home" icon. The Prefs list shows photos and folders you have selected, plus thumbnails of the photos.
- Tap a photo to view it in large scale.
- Tap a folder to navigate to it.

After you select a photo and are viewing it, you can:
- Swipe across the photo to the view the next or previous photo in the folder.
- Change the view to include 'Exif' information (when the data is present within the photo). When your device is in landscape orientation, the 'Exif' display mode also shows the photo to the right of the information,
- On a tablet, change the view to 'All', which is a convenient way to navigate in the file dialog and view the selected photo all at the same time.

Any time you want, you can add new photos and folders to your Prefs list by repeating the setup steps.

Here's how to add your preferred photos to your Prefs list:

The first time you run the app, it looks for folders in some standard locations where photos are likely to be and automatically adds the valid folders to your list. You should start looking for your photos by selecting one of those folders from your Prefs list.

Once you have selected a folder on the Prefs page, you will be taken to the File Dialog, which shows thumbnails and filenames of photos that are in that folder. Here, you can:
- Press and hold a photo, then a menu pops up, you can add it to your Prefs list.
- Optionally, press and hold a folder, a menu pops up, add it to your Prefs list.
- Optionally, browse down into a sub-folder by tapping the folder name.
- Optionally, browse up into a parent folder by tapping the "../" icon.

If you want, you can start looking in a different folder by tapping the "Prefs" icon and then selecting another folder to start from.

Repeat these steps as needed to find and mark your preferred photos.

Optionally, you can organize your Prefs list by moving an item to the top or bottom of the list, or deleting it from the list.
