Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing LokPixShred on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.

About this app

Privacy is important these days, but hard to maintain. LokPixShred helps you get rid of unwanted photos and videos on your device - PERMANENTLY!

When you delete a photo from the Android Gallery, the space it occupies on the SD card is simply marked as unused. The bits of your photos and videos are still there, and may be easily recovered with free tools! This will result in a loss of privacy, should your device be lost, stolen, or even simply traded-in for a new model. Even a factory wipe command may only delete the files, and not actually obliterate them.

LokPixShred will scan your phone or tablet looking for files ending with .jpg, .gif, .png, or .bmp (the most common photo formats), or video files (3gp, mp4, mpg, mpeg, mov, mkv, wmv, and avi). Once it finds the files, it displays thumbnail previews in a scrollable grid. You then select the files to be removed by tapping on them, and press the Shred button. All of the selected files will be overwritten with cryptographically-generated random data, then deleted. This prevents the recovery of these files when someone else gets their hands on your device..

Some devices don't even have removable storage (i.e SD cards) - this app may be your only effective means of sanitizing the device before selling it.

We have tested the shredded SD card images with the best file recovery programs available, and have yet to recover anything processed with this app.. Of course, due to the way that flash memory devices store data, we can't guarantee that ALL of the targeted files are unrecoverable. If you need total assurance of destruction, drop your device into the nearest volcano.
