What Path are You On?
Everyone on the planet is on one of two paths. In Matthew 7:13,14 Jesus says, 13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. “ So...which path are you on? The path that leads to destruction (hell) or the path that leads to life (heaven)?

Everyone eventually ends up on the same path, Romans 3:23 says, “23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” but there is great news! Romans 6:23 says, “23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[a] Christ Jesus our Lord.” Did you catch that Eternal Life bit? That’s what we want right? How do we get there?

Well, first we need to hear the Gospel of Jesus as Christ. In Romans 10: 14 the Bible says, “14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” We need to hear the Good News! Although we all end up on the road to destruction, God send His Son so that we could have Eternal Life (John 3:16). Do you believe the Good News?

John 3:16 says, “16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Once we have heard and believed the Good News we need to take action: We need to turn away from a sinful lifestyle and turn toward God.

Acts 2:38 says, ““Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” We need to Repent! And that simply means turn toward God.

When we turn away from sin and turn toward God by obeying God’s will for our lives we begin to Confess Jesus as our Lord and Savior. The Bible says in Romans 10: 9, ”9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” We begin our confessing when the preacher asks us to repeat our confession “I believe Jesus is the Christ the Son of the Living God, and I accept Him as my Lord and my Savior” And we continue to confess Jesus as we live a christlike life. Since we have heard the Gospel and we have believed it. Then we have repented by turning toward God and Confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior. We then need to have our sins washed away. In Acts 22:16, Ananias said to the Apostle Paul “16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.”

Like the Apostle Paul we to need to be Baptized. In Mark 16:16 Jesus said, “16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. I am so thankful that God has made a Way (John 14:6) for us to be with Him for Eternity.

So what Path are you on? Do you need to switch paths? Any of the Faculty or Staff would love to talk to you about how. And if you have already entered the path to Eternal Life let me ask you one final question: who are you taking with you?
