The National Day of China (known as the People’s Republic of China) is a public holiday celebrated on Oct 1 every year. The PRC is regarded to have been founded on September 21, 1949. It is also part of a “golden week” where workers have a mandatory 7 days off work. During this holiday, many people return to their hometowns to visit their family and relatives. On October 1 itself, there is usually a military parade and special flag raising ceremony.
