Despite the reviews I read, I decided to take a chance on this app. The user interface is the worst I have seen in a long time. The app is also not intuitive at all. You shouldn't need to read a [vague and useless] guide or watch a video to figure out basic functionality. I do not recommend this app to anyone, despite the maker's claims that it is very advanced and will keep you safe. edit: the dev keeps saying "no other app" in response to reviews. How about "no other applooks this horrible"

This apps UI is on par with a something done by a freshman CS student. Ugly, not user friendly and slow. For some reason it wants me to drive to Roswell NM. Did not see how to enter a starting point or destination and due to the amaturish nature of the app I didn't spend more than 2 minutes trying to figure it out.

Stop replying to people in an abusive manner and be a professional. The app *is* a utility but a poorly designed one, I would encourage you to take this in stride and to work on the UI. Look up the material design dev kit. This isn't perfect but you have a base for something work from with how it functions. When people give feedback, learn from it and grow. Now please edit your reddit ad to be more specific about what this is. I'm not looking for games, so just clarify its a map.

2 stars because it did show a crime heat map around my location but that was expected since im in a major city. Unfortunatley I wasn't able to see this heatmap outside of my immediate location. Ideally, I should be able to see crime data along my route and destination. As others have said, the interface is not intuitive at all and you mostly just have 1 letter abreviations that you have to guess what they mean. A status bar when a route is calculating or the app is waiting would also be nice.

About this app

Totally FREE now !!!! FREE FREE FREE!!! Why: To allow good people who don't have the
finances to purchase usage and who live in bad neighborhoods to protect themselves
from criminals.

TROLL ADVISORY: Be advised that this will be an app that a LOT of vested interests
will not like to see offered to the public widely as it exposes the very serious and growing
crime problems in our cities. They would prefer you not be reminded of that because it does not fit their narrative and their self-interest. As it will become self-evident as you use this app, this app is very effective at accurately and at a detailed level exposing crime and routing you around that crime. Despite the trolls, the app is very easy to use and ultra-responsive. Also, so you can judge my credibility, I was a Senior Operating System Engineer with Sun Microsystems for 17 years diagnosing and fixing deep problems with the Solaris/Unix operating system. I don't sling FUD like those trolling parties who would rather see your life in jeopardy than to have their narrative debunked.

Routes around crime areas dependent on user-designated risk level.

Complete coverage of entire USA at cell resolution of less than one-quarter mile.

Crime data derived from Spot Crime, a recognized leader in public-domain,
police-report-generated, up-to-date crime data sets.

Form-free user interactive route control using long clicks for source and destination, radio buttons for highway type, and a slider for route permissible risk level selection.

Minimalist voice agent to avoid directive clutter.

Now with Amazon Poly real-life voice agents allows you to select a wide variety of
natural-sounding voices.

Has both a real-time mode for on-the-road routing and a what-if mode for route-planning
and user-training purposes. All the USA routing maps are accessible in the what-if mode.

MapQuest-provided control point set based routing back-end.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
User Guide:

This app operates in 2 modes: WhatIf and RealTime.

WhatIf mode is for route planning and instruction.
RealTime mode is for driving in real time similar to
other navigation aps.

To (re)enter RealTime mode:
Press the Off button in the WhatIf Radio Box.
To (re)enter WhatIf mode:
Press any other button in the WhatIf Radio Box.

While in RealTime mode:
Longclick to indicate route destination.

While in WhatIf mode, in the WhatIf Radio Box:
The Src button sets the starting point.
The Dst button sets the end point.
The SDClr button clears both Src and Dst.

The route is computed only after both Src and
Dst have been set by Long Clicks.

If both Src and Dst are set, re-specifying Src or Dst
by Long Clicking while the respective buttons are selected
will OVERWRITE the current Src or Dst and recompute the route
using the new value while retaining the other peer value.

The Risk Slider selects the level of crime route control points to be
FILTERED OUT while computing a route.
Lower Risk levels give safer but longer routes and are longer for the
MapQuest backend to compute.
As a corollary, higher Risk levels give less safe but shorter routes
and are shorter for the MapQuest backend to compute.

On lower risk levels in large urban high crime areas, as many as
50K control points are sent to the MapQuest backend for the
routing request.
This can sometimes cause the 30 second backend timeout to be hit,
however, the impatient user can change the risk level or src/dst point
or hwy type and cause a rerouting to take place and the old re-routing
will be virtually aborted IMMEDIATELY.

End.
