About this app

This application is an Automatic Vehicle Locating System. It is written to provide a low cost AVL system for Transit Agencies.
It will upload to a FTP site the most recent GPS position of the Android smart phone that is configured for each vehicle.

The Data uploaded is a CSV file formatted: device time, Vehicle ID, Block/run number, Operator ID, Longitude, Latitude, GPS time, GPS accuracy

An FTP site needs to be set up, and the program configured, to match it.
For testing the data may be written to the device SD card.

The files written are: [the vehicle id].DAT, a file with just the most recent location.
or [the vehicle id + today's date].LOG, a file with all of today's locations with the newest written last.

This is meant to provide the raw data that can eventually by used by a program like One Bus Away
