we make our way into a red and green mindset, we wanted to give you a little taste of our favorite holiday with these PUMPKIN PIE with maple glaze flavored, turkey-shaped donuts! Turkey is by far my favorite Thanksgiving food, so why not make the dessert look like it too?! Plus, they taste exactly like pumpkin pie so you can’t go wrong there!

For the pumpkin pie donuts:


1 cup pumpkin pie filling
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice

For the maple glaze:


1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons buttermilk
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups powdered sugar

For the “turkey legs”:


Large pretzel sticks
Marshmallows
White chocolate
Peanut butter melting chocolate

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease two donut pans with shortening.

2. In a large bowl, combine pumpkin, oil, eggs, and sugar. Mix until combined. Add the remaining ingredients and mix until just combined. Fill a piping bag with the batter and pipe into each donut cavity 2/3 of the way.

3. Bake for 13-15 minutes. Once baked, remove from pan and place on a cooling rack.

4. While the donuts are cooling make the maple glaze. Brown the butter by placing it in the microwave for 3-4 minutes. Be careful not to burn it. Once browned, add brown sugar, buttermilk, and maple sugar. Place back in microwave and cook for 1.5 minutes or until the lumps are gone from the mixture.

5. Add in vanilla and powdered sugar and mix until combined. Dip the donuts into the glaze and place back on the cooling rack until the glaze has set.

6. Take a handful of marshmallows and melt them in the microwave. With your pretzel sticks, dip one end into the melted marshmallow, creating a turkey leg shape. Place on parchment paper or wax paper until the marshmallow becomes hard again.

7. Melt your peanut butter melting chocolate in the microwave and coat the end of the pretzel with the marshmallow in the peanut butter. Place back on the parchment paper and allow to dry.

8. Melt your white chocolate in the microwave and place the unused end of the pretzel stick in the white chocolate to create a “bone.” Place back on the parchment paper until dry.

9. To assemble, put a little bit of the melted peanut butter on the back of one of the turkey legs and stick to the top of donut. Hold there until the dry and stuck on. Enjoy!
