About this app

BigFoot Digital Footprint is an academic experiment studying social media awareness. It helps digital citizens (that's you or anyone using a digital device - cell phone, computer, etc.) answer, 'How big is my digital footprint?' The experiment syncs to your Facebook account and it's easy as:

1. An ethics document pops up making sure you're aware of the experimental design
2. Scroll through a, 30-second to 1-min survey,
3. Read through 2 results: The first result is a number saying: What you think you're doing on Facebook. This is compared to the second number which says: What you're actually doing on Facebook.

Why are we doing this experiment? Well, we know many people are passively using the internet (and social media platforms). We also know many people don't take full control of their privacy settings. Social media is a space where you build your trusted connections. This is usually your family, your friends, your co-workers, your community in a digital sphere. It should be a space of trust, and it should be in your control.

The app allows you to analyse and understand your online privacy needs with the goal to assist you in adjusting your privacy settings in social media apps. The App can capture your online persona and determine how much of your data is out there. You can take part in psychometric testing and contribute to real research on social media, online personalities, and data exhaust.

Become part of a growing global community of experts and like minded people with the mission to understand and shape the future of online privacy. State your interest here and receive information on how to engage, event updates and ongoing developments.
