About this app

Savate, is a fighting art developed in France, which uses hands and feet as weapons. In other words Savate is French-style kickboxing. In its appearance, Savate is more likely to use a lot of legs.

"Savate" itself in French means "old shoes / old shoes". Chances are Savate is the only form of kickboxing in the world whose fighters wear shoes during matches. Son fighter, called Savateur. Whereas princess fighters are called Savateuse.

Savate Modern originated from a merger between the French Street Fighting in the early 19th Century. Savate became a common street fighter in Paris and northern France. In Southern France, especially in the Port of Marseille, sailors created techniques that used kicks and slaps. These techniques are known as jeu marseillais or games from Marseille.

Two historic figures in the development of Savate are Michel Casseux and Charles Lecour. Casseux creates a regulated version of chausson and savate (prohibiting head thrashing techniques, eye squeeze, body grip / kickback). Often, in Savate martial arts, Savate teaches martial arts with a stick called la canne or la baton in French.

Savate is currently one of the kickboxing sports originating from France and has been contested in sports events. Maintaining his distinctiveness, today's Savate fighters still wear shoes, even though they are no longer as heavy as the shoes of past Savate fighters.
